Group Discussion on “Barriers to Revival”

Every Tuesday night in January and February, beginning at 9pm, we will host a 1-hour group discussion about the “Barriers to Revival” via Zoom and Facebook. Our goal is to have designated pastors and other leaders from Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio participate, sharing their perspective on what is preventing genuine revival from occurring.  (GMT-5:00) Eastern Time (US and Canada)

You can participate in this group discussion by submitting your questions for pastors to answer. We will have a different topic each Tuesday night and we ask that the questions you submit follow the topic that will be focused on for that particular evening. Please submit your questions with this link.

Tri-State Revival Prayer Gatherings

When we arrived back from Indonesia in 2015, we began conducting “Tri-State Revival Prayer Gatherings” in school auditoriums, gymnasiums, fairgrounds, parks, and churches. Thousands of people were united in praying for revival. Yet, despite all that prayer there were still significant roadblocks in place and a widespread revival did not materialize.

After two years of following the Lord’s leading on how to go around these roadblocks, and having seen countless miracles—verifiable ones—we are again launching these “Tri-State Revival Prayer Gatherings,” and we will host them online via Zoom and Facebook.

These prayer gatherings will be conducted every Saturday night at 9pm, beginning on January 8, and continuing every Saturday through the end of February. Our goal is to invite pastors, intercessors, and others from a given county to lead in prayers on a specific Saturday night. (GMT-5:00) Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Mystery Revival
Last month we indicated that we were going to share about a revival that occurred in 1995, and how it spread throughout the United States. This was the Brownwood, Texas, Revival that God used to spark many others.
.
Here are some main things about this revival:
► It was preceded by a small group of committed intercessors.
► It was preceded by a relatively small group that prepared themselves with sincere introspection.
► Sins were confessed privately, in small groups, and even publicly.
► The news about what God did was told in churches, high schools, and colleges. We will share how that revival spread during the Encounter Night at New Hope Christian Center in Waterloo, Indiana, Sunday night, January 9 at 6pm.

Encounter Night

The next Encounter Night at New Hope Christian Center will be Sunday, January 9, 2022, beginning at 6pm.

Why these evenings are so different:
► The amount of prayer in preparation is intense.
► The extra time given to praise, worship, and testimonies, arrests God’s attention.
► The level of faith exercised by those in attendance amplifies God’s presence.
► The expectation of Encountering God leads to a genuine encounter with Him.

If your spiritual life has been mediocre, or in serious decline, these nights are opportunities for revival.

Accounts of Revival

This month we completed six revival accounts. The time we invest making these stories known will pay off, because, as the renowned revival historian J. Edwin Orr has stated: “There have been instances in the history of the Church when telling and retelling of the wonderful works of God have been used to rekindle the expectations of the faithful intercessors and prepare the way for another Awakening.”

1985 Hemet, California
1989 Kiambu, Kenya
1995 Brownwood, Texas

1995 Wheaton College

YOUR PRAYERS

► A fast is being called for, following the New Year Celebrations, leading up to New Hope Christian Center’s Encounter Night on January 9. Each person is encouraged to fast as they are led.
► Pray for churches in the region to begin conducting something like the Encounter Nights that New Hope Christian Center has been conducting for the last year. It is efforts like these that have sparked revivals throughout history.
► Pray for God to grant people the will and desire for revival, and that the things of this world will lose their appeal.
► Pray for church leaders to have the courage to speak against the secularization of The Church, and for them to begin overtly engaging the demonic powers that are obstinately opposing revival.
► There are many Christians that live with spiritual oppressiveness, and that need not be. Pray for them to take the steps necessary to experience the freedom Christ has already purchased for them. They can apply for prayer for their personal freedom with this link.

I Sold My Soul to the Devil

We regularly meet with people who have “sold their soul to the Devil,” that is, they have made a pact with Satan. In exchange for some favor, they give Satan legal rights to their entire being, not merely their soul.

Is it possible that Christians have unwittingly done the same? When they have the attitude of “don’t bother Satan and he won’t bother you,” isn’t that a pact with Satan?

You may also hear that same sentiment spoken with this veiled phrase: “We don’t talk about Satan around here because we don’t want to give him any credit.”

Here are a few questions about that view:

  1. The Bible says we have an enemy prowling about looking to devour people (1 Peter 5:8). If you never warn congregational members about this vicious enemy, how will they ever know he is there? How will they know how to protect themselves?
  2. God commands us to clothe ourselves with His armor (Ephesians 6:10-18). Why would He command us to do that if we are assumedly immune to demonic attacks? What is the purpose of that armor? Is there a literal Satan shooting arrows at us all the time or not? If it is impossible for those arrows to harm the Christian, then the strong warnings about “staying alert” and “standing guard” have no purpose.
  3. If we never talk about the enemy of our soul, our accuser, the one that is continually enticing us into sin, how will the Christian ever be able to stand victorious?

Break the Pact with Satan
Satan will never keep a promise. You may think he will leave you alone if you leave his kingdom alone. Don’t be so naïve to believe such a thought.

Satan is a destroyer. He hates you and should be shown no mercy. He will never cease his attacks on you, so don’t fall for the lie that he may make an exception with you and not attack you or your family if you stop overtly working and praying to destroy his kingdom.

The Victor is Our Focus
Some may argue that we should keep our eyes on Jesus. We agree, because it is only through faith in Him that we can overcome (1 John 4:4; Revelation 12:11). So, as we engage the enemy of our soul, we must keep our eyes on Jesus, whose purpose for coming to the earth was to destroy Satan’s works (1 John 3:8).

And remember, the powers of Satan will be active in the world till the end of the age, when Satan will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10).
