The Shield Was Dropped
One of the believers in our group met a young lady, and it was clear from the beginning that the relationship was headed for trouble. In the friendliest way possible, others tried to warn him about the danger he was headed into, but he was so emotionally involved with her that he wasn’t open to listening to any advice.
It wasn’t long after that that the relationship led to premarital sex that took place regularly in the apartment he was renting together with a couple of other non-Christian sailors. This brought tremendous discredit on the Lord’s work and had an eroding effect on the Holy Spirit’s power in our midst.
“With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him. Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life.” (Prov. 7:21-23)
A compromise in sexual morality, or in any area, will grieve the Holy Spirit, and His power will be diminished accordingly.
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” (Eph. 4:30)
