In ‘the good ol’ days’, churches would schedule “revival services” lasting one or two weeks.
1. They would schedule a gifted man or woman to come and preach each night.
2. A month or more before the start, the pastor would preach sermons that would spiritually prepare the congregation.
3. Excitement and anticipation would build—(faith).
4. As a congregation, they would conduct prayer and fasting leading up to the start of the services.
5. When the gifted speaker would come, because of the spiritual preparation, there was a tremendous release of God’s power.
Were there Results? – Absolutely!
1. Peoples’ spiritual lives were renewed.
2. People were healed.
3. Relationships were restored.
4. It was a return to their “First Love”.
5. Because there was a new passion for Jesus and His Kingdom, people began to share their faith—and people were born again—and added to the Church.
6. After it was over, the congregation had a choice; go back to the way things were, or fight to maintain their new freedom, deliverance, and joy.
One-One-One Revival Services
This is what takes place in the ministry of deliverance. It is a “Revival Service” designed for the individual—and with the proper preparation, an amazing release of God’s restoring power can be expected.
God can do corporately what we have been seeing Him do one-on-one with individuals. Our one-on-one “revival sessions” are time consuming, but highly effective.
Are Scheduled Revival Services Outdated?
Some would say that the scheduled revival services for congregations are a relic of the past, and that they don’t work anymore. I would say that the only reason why they wouldn’t work would be due to a lack of desperation. If the church leadership and congregation are contented, apathetic, and do not want to invest the effort to spiritually prepare themselves for such a powerful encounter, then these scheduled services would be a waste of time, just like prayer for deliverance is also a waste of time if there isn’t spiritual preparation.
When a person doesn’t change following the ministry of deliverance, it is because they lacked desperation and that they didn’t sincerely prepare themselves.
