Deliverance Can Be Compared to a Chess Game
Some describe deliverance as a chess game for a person’s life, in that evil powers are continually strategizing how they might be able to deceive, hinder, delay, and confuse prayer teams as they minister to a person seeking deliverance. The prayer teams continually intercede, seeking God for wisdom from His Word, as well as drawing on experience to counteract these “moves” of the evil powers.
Some say that deliverance is comparable to peeling layers off an onion, in that there are often layer-after-layer of emotional wounds, alter-personalities, and even evil powers that hinder a person from obtaining complete freedom.
Gift of Discernment
Prayer teams that do not have a team member with the gift of discernment are at a disadvantage. They are not totally incapable of achieving success, but the “chess game” will undoubtedly be drawn out over a longer period of time without this gift.
Recent Experience
On December 18, 2019, a team from New Hope Christian Center conducted a deliverance session and they were blocked from making their next “move”.They decided to retreat for several days to fast and pray, and seek God for guidance on where the blockage was coming from. Immediately after the deliverance session that day, prayer was requested from a person who had the gift of discernment operating in their life, and the Lord immediately revealed what the team’s next “move” was to be.
