God’s Promises Can Be Trusted
- You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. (Mic. 7:19)
- As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (Ps. 103:12)
- You have put all my sins behind your back. (Isa. 38:17)
- If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
- “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.” (Isa. 43:25)
- For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. (Heb. 8:12)
- Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Rom. 8:1)
Memorizing Truth Will Set You Free—John 8:32
Memorizing Scriptures will help you grow spiritually, as quoting Scriptures is what Jesus used when tempted. (Matt. 4:4, 7, 10)
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Ps. 119:11).
- In a quiet place, pray and ask God to give you the ability to memorize.
- Always speak out loud when practicing memorization.
- Speak the reference first, then the verse itself. Conclude with saying the reference.
- When verses are long, memorize short segments at a time.
- Frequently reviewing your memory verses will keep them fresh in your mind.
Overcoming False Assurance and Doubts of One’s Salvation
Salvation isn’t earned from church attendance, giving money, or other good activities.
- Salvation is obtained as a free gift from God. (Rom. 6:23; John 3:36; Eph. 2:8-9)
- Salvation is only attainable through Jesus Christ. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)
- We are saved by faith, regardless of how we feel. (2 Cor. 5:7, 17)
- Salvation is by faith, even if we don’t understand everything about it. (1 Cor. 2:14; 1:18)
Assurance of Salvation
- You can receive complete assurance that you are saved. (1 John 5:12-13)
- It is true that secret sins hinder assurance. (Prov. 28:13)
- Persecution, trials, and sufferings can cause doubt, but in reality they are evidence of our salvation. (1 Thess. 3:3; James 1:2.; 1 Peter 1:6-7; Matt. 13:21)
- If we’ve repented from our sins and have received Christ by faith, we can have confidence in our salvation. (John 1:12, 5:24, 6:37, 10:28; Acts 2:38.; 1 Cor. 1:8-9.; 1 John 1:9)
